Description
Probenecid increases and prolongs oxacillin blood levels by blocking renal tubular secretion; use should be limited to infections requiring very high serum levels.
Mechanism
Competitively inhibits renal tubular secretion of penicillins, decreasing volume of distribution and slowing excretion
