Description
Probenecid increases and prolongs oxacillin blood levels by blocking renal tubular secretion. Use should be limited to infections requiring very high serum levels.
Mechanism
Competitively inhibits renal tubular secretion of penicillins, decreases volume of distribution and slows excretion
